What Should I prepare for before the procedure?

Just like any regular appointment, there are things you should prepare for, This is what you should and should not do before your laser hair removal appointment:

  • Do not remove any unwanted hair for at least one month before the procedure for best results, This includes any type of waxing, threading, plucking, etc. In order for us to be able to cause the least amount of damage to the skin and follicles.

  • Avoid direct or intense contact with sun and heat at least four weeks before the procedure, This ensures that the sun's rays and the laser will not cause permanent damage to the skin, if you are going to be in direct sunlight put on a very high sunscreen and limit your time.

  • Inform your dermatologist before the procedure about any medications you are on.

What Should I prepare for during the procedure?

During the procedure, your dermatologist will analyze your hair and determine upfront the number of sessions you may need, (Contacting through messages beforehand may help to show your doctor how many sessions you may need before making your first appointment). Before starting the session your doctor will place a cooling gel on the area of removal in order to keep from worse skin irritation, Then the small hand-held device produces a light beam that is converted into heat that warms up the hair follicles in the skin to make removal work. By end of the procedure cooling ointments and creams will be applied to the area of removal so irritation is limited, slight pain and stinging is normal along with redness of the skin.
